Vivian Alarcón explores the invisible forces that shape human experience, creating works that navigate the intersection between materiality, memory, energy, and spiritual transformation. Her practice is rooted in a deep interest in perception and contemplation, using art as a vehicle for introspection and the elevation of consciousness.
Inspired by the principles of spiritual alchemy, Alarcón approaches each body of work as a chapter within a larger journey of transformation. Her exhibitions function as stages in an ongoing process that seeks to reveal hidden dimensions of the self, moving towards what alchemists describe as the Opus Magnum—the Great Work.
At the core of her practice lies a desire to make the intangible tangible. Through delicate forms, transparency, and the interplay of light, she investigates the presence of emotions, memories, and energies that exist beyond language. Her work reflects an enduring fascination with the soul as both subject and source, exploring how unseen forces can be perceived, preserved, and given physical form.
Alarcón is particularly interested in the relationship between the earthly and the ethereal. Materials such as glass, with its simultaneous fragility and resilience, become metaphors for the transient nature of existence. Feathers, recurring elements within her work, evoke notions of protection, transcendence, and the connection between the human and the divine.
Balancing sensitivity and material presence, her sculptures and installations invite viewers into spaces of reflection where the sensory becomes a pathway to deeper awareness. Through her practice, Alarcón seeks to crystallize fleeting experiences, transforming them into enduring forms that resonate beyond the visible world.
