Biography
Ricky Lee Gordon is a contemporary artist whose practice is rooted in a profound connection to nature and the exploration of humanity’s relationship with the natural world. Working under the philosophy of “painting nature with nature,” he creates atmospheric landscapes using pigments, dyes, and materials sourced directly from the environment.
His process is deeply intuitive and meditative, guided by a desire to reveal the interconnectedness of all living things. Through the transformation of natural materials, Lee Gordon seeks harmony between medium, subject, and meaning, allowing each work to emerge through a dialogue with the elements themselves.
His multidisciplinary approach encompasses a wide range of traditional and experimental techniques, including oxidized plant dyes, batik printing with beeswax, cyanotypes, lithography, copper and acid engraving, wood carving, and brass casting. These processes reflect an ongoing fascination with material alchemy and the subtle ways in which nature leaves its mark on form and surface.
Alongside his studio practice, Lee Gordon has gained international recognition for his large-scale public artworks addressing social and environmental themes. His murals and public interventions have been commissioned by organisations including Amnesty International, Greenpeace, and the United Nations, using art as a tool to foster awareness, dialogue, and collective responsibility.
