Meet Douglas Knesse, Denis Ymeri Shkalla and Maria Naidyonova: three recent additions to Escat Gallery. From gestural landscapes and tactile structures to intimate figurative scenes, this selection introduces distinct ways of connecting the painted surface with memory, place and human experience.

Escat Gallery presents The Art of Trying, a selection of works by American contemporary artist Eric Stefanski. Beginning with language and embracing the uncertainty of painting, Stefanski explores persistence, failure and the daily realities of artistic practice. Through text, gesture and material experimentation, his paintings reveal the tension between intention and unpredictability.

Building Our Own Territory extends Federica Furbelli’s Las nubes no tienen casa beyond the gallery space. Through journeys, field research and encounters with earth, water and found materials, the project traces how lived experience becomes painting. Landscape emerges not as something to represent, but as a territory to inhabit, transform and carry with us.

In José María De Aurora’s paintings, colour is never simply applied to a surface. It is built, displaced, layered and remembered. SOLAZ — The Language of Colour enters the artist’s pictorial world through the relationships between colour, matter, gesture and memory, revealing a practice in which painting becomes both image and physical presence.

Presented as part of Art Nou 2026, Aude Ardere introduces a new body of work by Vivian Alarcón exploring spiritual alchemy, transformation, and the invisible forces that shape human experience. Through glass, textiles, fire, and organic materials, the artist creates sculptural environments that invite contemplation and inner reflection.

Silvia De Marchi, born in 1967 and based in Arosio, Northern Italy, creates works that are deeply rooted in memory, materiality, and the transformative power of time. Her practice is shaped by her background in painting restoration and her spiritual approach to art, where fragility, imperfection, and nature converge.

This Viewing Room provides an in-depth look into Mareo’s artistic practice, focusing on his exploration of the portal as a symbolic structure and the void as a generative inner space. Through painting and spatial thinking, Mareo proposes abstraction as a tool for transformation—inviting viewers to engage with his work as a contemplative and experiential journey.

Pindorama, meaning “land of the palm trees” in the language of the Tupi-Guarani people, was the name used by Indigenous communities to describe the territory now known as Brazil. In this series, Júlia Martins Miranda revisits the idea of homeland through memory and distance, transforming cultural references from her native Brazil into vibrant compositions that oscillate between remembrance, imagination, and reinvention.

Una habitació pròpia (A Room of One’s Own) brings together Alba Fabre, Iris Sanmartín Dalmau, Blanca Nieto, Suna Imre, and Diana Ruban. Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s seminal essay, the exhibition explores the idea of space—both physical and symbolic—as a necessary condition for women’s creative autonomy, identity, and expression.

During a residency in Menorca, Teté Alurralde developed a focused investigation into the movement of the sea and its emotional resonance through color. Observing shifting light, rhythm, and fluidity, she expanded her gestural language and deepened her chromatic intensity. This viewing room presents works that mark a pivotal moment in her practice, where matter dissolves into vibration and painting becomes an embodied experience of transformation.
