Salamanca España, b. 1991
Blanca Nieto (Salamanca, Spain, 1991) is a visual artist whose work explores memory as a trace—what remains despite absence and the passage of time. She uses textile art as both material and metaphor, weaving veils, gauzes, and translucent layers that evoke the fragility and persistence of memory. Stitching and mending symbolize the vital bond with the lived experiences that shape us, asserting memory as identity.
The fragmentation of the support plays a key role. Often divided into multiple canvases, her works materialize the subjective recomposition of memories over time. She explores the interaction between fabric and paint: marks that allude to moments and glazes to layers of memory.
Nieto earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Salamanca and a Master’s degree in Design and Illustration from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and she was recognized with the Manero Collection Acquisition Award at Just Mad 2024.
