Elisabet Urpí, born in Catalonia in 1985, and Nacho Umpiérrez, born in Uruguay in 1983, have been working and living in Barcelona for over 15 years. Their work is internationally recognized for its sculptural objects that blend art and design.

For this exhibition, the duo draws inspiration from the Mediterranean, focusing on its organic and beautiful forms. Their installation centers on the beauty of the Mediterranean and what remains of it. One of the main sources of inspiration has been the Padina algae, native to the Mediterranean, which has fascinated them due to its shapes, its habitat, and the light it requires to thrive. The works in this exhibition recreate the movement, flora, and reflections of the sea.

ELIURPI was founded 15 years ago in Barcelona. Their creative practice is based on culture, architecture, and contemporary art, through which they create unique, hybrid pieces. Initially, they became known for their sculptural hats, and in the last five years, their universe has expanded to include sculptures and other art pieces. They share both a professional and personal life, developing a unique artistic language that draws from both of their influences and disciplines. Their work revives cultural traditions and reinterprets them with a contemporary patina. They are inspired by the treatment of light and shadow, and their artistic process is based on craftsmanship, creativity, and honesty—values reflected in their choice of materials such as wood, straw, raffia, linen, and silk.

Their most recent works have been exhibited at important venues, such as ARCO Week in Madrid, the Biennale of Art and Craft in South Korea, where they received an honorable mention for their work, and their solo exhibition Shadows & Poems at the Palazzo Litta in Milan.
