Born in Mexico City and raised in Colombia, MAREO works across painting, sculpture, installation, and digital media. Over the past decade, he has presented 16 solo exhibitions and participated in international art fairs, festivals, and artistic projects throughout North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Asia, and Europe.

Portals Origin of the Void explores transformation as a process of transition from one state of being to another. The portal is understood not as a physical doorway, but as a symbolic threshold—an opening in consciousness that enables passage and change. The void, in turn, is conceived not as absence, but as a silent, living space charged with potential: a place of pause, shelter, and inner transformation reached after crossing the portal.

The exhibition brings together large-scale installations and works on canvas in a unified spatial journey. Two vertical light fissures, each four meters high and anchored by circular sand bases, act as the central energetic structures of the exhibition. Radiating outward, they organize the space and resonate with the surrounding works, evoking natural formations such as lightning, rivers, mountain ranges, and geological fractures.

The paintings, part of the Void series, begin with dark, monochromatic surfaces that gradually open toward light. Through circular forms and restrained palettes, these works invite contemplation and propose the void as an active space of perception, balance, and possibility.
