Biography
Júlia Martins Miranda is a Brazilian painter educated at the prestigious Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milan, Italy. Living and working between Italy and Brazil, she has developed a distinctive visual language that merges abstraction, memory, rhythm, and emotion.
Her paintings are deeply informed by personal experience while drawing on broader themes of identity, belonging, and cultural heritage. Through expressive compositions and a vibrant use of colour, Martins Miranda creates works that evoke movement, atmosphere, and emotional resonance.
Her recent body of work, PINDORAMA, was created in her studio in Noto, Sicily. The title references the name used by the Indigenous Tupi-Guarani peoples to describe the land that would later become known as Brazil—“the land of palm trees.” Conceived as a return to origins, the series explores the artist’s connection to her homeland through colour, gesture, and memory.
Each painting is inspired by a Brazilian poem or song, translating melodies, rhythms, and lyrics into dynamic abstract compositions. Through these works, Martins Miranda evokes the warmth, vitality, and emotional richness of Brazilian culture while reflecting on the relationship between ancestral memory and contemporary experience.
Celebrating both nature and identity, her paintings invite viewers into a universe shaped by movement, sound, and sensation.
