Biography
Irinka Talakhadze is a contemporary figurative painter based in Tbilisi, Georgia. Raised by an artist father, she was introduced to painting from an early age. Following his passing, art became a way of preserving a connection with him, and painting has remained at the centre of both her personal and artistic life.
Her practice explores themes of childhood, memory, identity, and transformation, creating quiet, emotionally charged scenes that exist between reality and imagination. Drawing on the visual language of fairs, playgrounds, costumes, and theatrical settings, Talakhadze captures moments suspended in time, inviting viewers to reconnect with their own memories and emotional landscapes.
Working with expressive brushwork and layered surfaces, she balances carefully constructed compositions with painterly spontaneity. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including the solo exhibition The Fairground at Private Walls Gallery (Belgium), as well as exhibitions with Tappan Collective (Los Angeles), IRL Gallery (New York), and Escat Gallery (Barcelona). Her paintings are held in private collections across Europe and the United States.
